Cannabis and cancer: Research finds mixed results

Doctors across the United States are increasingly prescribing patients medical marijuana for ailments including depression, pain and insomnia.

However, according to a European Journal of Immunology report, cannabis use can suppress the body's immune system and increase its susceptibility to certain types of cancers and infections.

Professor Prakash Nagarkatti from the University of South Carolina led the study.
