Spain's first cannabis smoking club
Typically Spanish Thursday 02 Dec 2010 A club which allows its members to smoke marijuana has opened in Paracuellos de Jarama, in Madrid, on the premise that consumption of marijuana is legally allowed in Spain if it is in private. The 'Private Cannabis Club', which opened last month, is run by a private association and is only open to its members. No members of the general public are allowed to enter the premises. ABC newspaper reports that members can take their own supplies to smoke on the premises or buy from the Club at the price of 6 € per gram, although every member is limited to a certain amount. 20 minutos however notes that changes could come with the planned reforms to Spain's Smoking Law, which the government wants to ban smoking in all closed public spaces. The amendments to current legislation could extend to private smoking clubs and could also affect the Private Cannabis Club.
