LCA Members elect a leader
Legalise Cannabis Alliance Tuesday 15 Feb 2011 The LCA was originally fomed as apolitical party in 1999 to provide people that wish to campaign for a change in law with a platform. After fighting in over 80 elections - both Parliamentary and local council - and gaining up to 8% of the vote - the Party decided to de-register after a Members' vote in November 2006. Alun Buffry, co-founder of the LCA, said "in 2006 it was felt that politics had become more complicated and we decided that since the Green Party and Lib Dems had both told us that they supported our cause, we would step aside but continue our struggle as a pressure group. "Both the Greens and the Lib Dems let us down and have done nothing to change the law. "So LCA Members decided in a recent ballot to re-register as a political party and to elect, for the first time, a leader. There were two candidates, and Peter Reynolds was chosen."
