UK:Police seize £60,000 worth of cannabis (Eastville)

Avon and Somerset Constabulary

Friday 01 Apr 2011

Police in Bristol seized £60,000 worth of cannabis in a drugs raid in Eastville.

Officers from the Horfield and Lockleaze Neighbourhood Team would like to thank the community who passed on information to their local PSCO that helped officers get a warrant to enter the property.

When officers raided the address in Dormer Road on Thursday, they found more than 140 plants and a lot of hydroponics equipment, used for cultivating cannabis, which was also seized and destroyed.

A 47-year-old man was arrested as a result and has now been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Nigel Chapman, of Horfield and Lockleaze NPT, said: "The message is very clear that law-abiding people don't want drugs in their neighbourhood.

"This professional set-up was capable of producing thousands of pounds of cannabis.

"Avon and Somerset police will not tolerate it and will act quickly on intelligence that we receive.
