Malaysia: Jail, Whipping For Possessing Cannabis

SHAH ALAM, April 13 (Bernama) -- The High Court here sentenced a man to 15 years in jail and 10 strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to an alternative charge of possessing 1,882 grammes of cannabis two years ago.

Judge Datuk Wira Mohtarudin Baki ordered the accused, C. Jason, 30, to serve the jail sentence from the day he was arrested on March 10, 2009.

Jason committed the offence in front of Restoran Poh Yap, Jalan Anggerik Vanilla N, 31/N, Section 31, at about 11.30pm.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Rosidah Abu Bakar prosecuted while Jason was represented by Gurbachan Singh and Gurubachan Singh Johal.
