Gibraltar: Drugs Arrest After Raid

Police officers raided a flat in Glacis Estate and arrested a local man on a range of drug-related charges.

Officers from the Drugs Squad of the Royal Gibraltar Police searched the property and found a number of controlled substances.

Ernest Podesta, 49, of Constitution House, was charged with importation, possession and possession with intent to supply 255 grams of cannabis resin.

He was also charged with possession of 10 grams of herbal cannabis and three sedative tablets, as well as two grams of a substance containing amphetamine sulphate. Mr Podesta was also charged with the theft of a Gibraltar Health Authority book containing 95 sickness certificates.

He appeared before the Magistrates Court on Tuesday and is currently on bail.
