UK: Pair guilty over cannabis factory

Southern Daily Echo

Thursday 14 Apr 2011

TWO men have been convicted of being involved in a cannabis factory in Eastleigh.

David Harblass, 48, and Glen Hewes, 40, were arrested after police raided the five-bedroom end-of-terrace property in Whiteways.

Jurors at Southampton Crown Court heard they found 70 flowering plants which, if cultivated, could have produced up to two years' supply of cannabis for the average smoker.

House owner Harblass, of Osborne Road South, Southampton, and Hewes, of Clare Lodge Place, Bransgore, who denied producing cannabis, will be sentenced next month.

A third man, Robert Humphries, 25, of Five Elms Drive, Romsey, was acquitted on the direction of Judge Derwin Hope.
