Cambridge News

Tuesday 19 Apr 2011

GW Pharma, the company with operations at Ely among other secret locations, which has created a prescription drug out of cannabis, is steaming ahead after more than a decade of development.

The company, headed by Dr Geoffrey Guy, calls the cannabis prescription drug Sativex, and now has four big pharma partners on board, the latest Novartis, in a licensing deal giving exclusive commercial rights across the Middle and Far East, and Africa.

GW gets $5m upfront with a further 28m USD to come in milestone payments.

Sativex treats pain associated with cancer and MS.
