UK: Cannabis grower told to pay back £11,000 or face six months in jail
ThisisLincolnshire Tuesday 19 Apr 2011 Colin Baker, 57, was warned he faces prison unless he can pay the confiscation sum within the maximum period of six months. The former seaman and labourer was spared jail earlier this year after police found 119 cannabis plants during a raid at his home in Albany Road, Skegness. Baker, who had been smoking cannabis since the age of 17, admitted making a small profit from giving the drug to close friends after being surprised at the size of the harvest. Baker's finances were investigated by police after he was given a six-month curfew and ordered to complete 150 hours unpaid work when he was sentenced in January. A proceeds of crime hearing at Lincoln Crown Court was told Baker had made a benefit of £11,079 from his criminal activity. Recorder Richard Swain told Baker if he did not pay back the sum within that period he would be jailed for six months. http://www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk/news/Cannabis-grower-told-pay-163-11k/article-3461242-detail/article.html
