Cardiff Cannabis March - May 7th 2011
Press Release: CannaZine Friday 29 Apr 2011 The muster point is set to be Cathays park, at the Science Building belonging to the Cardiff University campus with the 'off' pencilled in for around 13:30, or half one in the afternoon. The most prominent question on peoples lips is sure to be "what are the protocols for consuming cannabis along the route?" Organiser Rhys Morgan tells members of the facebook group to observe a little caution and not to set out to bring attention to yourselves, or you might just get it. Last years event witnessed almost a thousand people taking part and from all walks of life. One party included a college lecturer who asked not to be named, who attended with a party of 8 of his students. As many non-smokers ask when these get-togethers happen along periodically, whats the point of it all? In a nutshell the Million Marijuana March is a global mobilisation of tens of thousands of recreational and medicinal cannabis users. All protesting at the prohibition of a plant which is safer than both alcohol and tobacco by whichever metric you use to measure. Once upon a time any thought of cannabis activism was the realm of a specific demographic once referred to as 'the great unwashed'. But Cardiff is a famous university city, and many of todays activists will become tomorrows doctors, lawyers and politicians and its hoped once the old political guard withers and dies this new breed will at last bring about a large portion of common sense to an otherwise non-sensical war on cannabis, and the people who choose to use it. If you're in Cardiff we would love to see you at the Million Marijuana March, setting off at half 1 in the afternoon from Cathays Park. There-after, just follow your nose.
