Pensioner Jacqueline Le Marechal grew her own cannabis to beat rip-off dealers
Daily Echo Thursday 19 May 2011 Jacqueline Le Marechal had been arrested after police raided her home and discovered ten plants as well as a book on how to grow marijuana. Prosecutor Erica Foster described how officers found three plants, one close to being harvested, in a rear bedroom where they were being grown with a heating lamp. In a foil-lined cupboard in a separate room, seven saplings were also being cultivated with a lamp. The 65-year-old told police how she had used dealers to get cannabis which, she said, eased her health complaints. She added: "But it caused problems and I got ripped off so I decided to grow my own plants to support my habit." Southampton Crown Court heard Le Marechal had a previous conviction for producing cannabis three years ago after police spotted cannabis plants growing on her wheelie-bin. Giving her a six-month sentence, suspended for two years, Recorder Andrew Maitland told her: "If you are stupid to think that, when the two years are up, you can start growing cannabis again, you will go to prison. It’s a matter for you." Le Marechal, of Rooks Bridge, Dibden, also received a four-month curfew on Friday and Saturday nights. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/9035072.Pensioner_grew_her_own_drugs_to_beat_rip_off_dealers/
