New Zealand: Five to contest Te Tai Tokerau by-election

Five people will contest the Tai Tokerau by-election on June 25.

Nominations for the race closed at midday.

As expected, Hone Harawira is standing for the Mana Party, MP Kelvin Davis for Labour and Solomon Tipene for the Maori Party.

The Aoteraoa Legalise Cannabis Party has put Maki Herbert up as a candidate and Kelvyn Alp is standing for the OURNZ Party.

133 polling booths will be open on the day and chief electoral officer Robert Peden says advance voting will start on Wednesday next week.
