UK: Cannabis man's warning from magistrate

Shields Gazette Press Release

Sunday 19 Jun 2011

A MAN fined for possessing cannabis was warned to buck his ideas up by a magistrate.

Police were tipped off about a man acting suspiciously in Stirling Avenue, Jarrow.

And when officers turned up, they found Sandy Robinson sitting on a step.

After searching him, they discovered a bag of cannabis bush in his pocket.

The 31-year-old, of no fixed abode, was at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court this week, where he pleaded guilty to possessing a Class B drug.

The hearing was told that Robinson only had one conviction before the start of the year, but now has four.

Chairman of the bench, Tom Purvis, told him to "be careful" about the direction he is heading in.

Mr Purvis added: "I hope you're not on a slippery slope – be careful of where you are going."

Robinson was given a £65 fine, and ordered to pay £85 costs, for being in possession of the cannabis.
