UK: Drug dealer is spared jail By Hannah Al-Taraboulsy Warrington Guardian Saturday 25 Jun 2011 Anthony Braddish was charged with both possession and intent to supply a class B drug after police conducted a search of his McKee Avenue property, in Longford, on October 12, last year. Warrington Crown Court heard on Friday how the 26-year-old had 27g of bush and 270g of resin in the property, a mobile phone containing texts proving he had dealt drugs, £530 in cash, a set of electronic scales and snap bags. David Jones, prosecuting, said: "The defendant fully accepts he was dealing to family and friends and that there was an element of profit to fund his own habit. He was not enjoying a lavish lifestyle because of supplying drugs." Simon Berkson, defending, said that Braddish had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and had co-operated fully with police. He said: "There's no suggestion he was a sophisticated drug dealer. He is a house husband and looks after six children due to his wife's health. "He's a man of good character and he’s someone who gives to society by way of looking after his children and keeping the family together. "He recognises his problem and wishes to come off cannabis, no doubt arising from the raid on the address where he lives with his wife and children." Braddish was handed an eight-month suspended sentence and was ordered to complete 80 hours unpaid work. The £530 was confiscated under the Proceeds of Crime Act. The judge, Recorder Michael Blakey, said: "You were frank with police and you have full credit for your guilty pleas. "Possession with intent to supply, whatever the drug, is a serious offence and crosses the custody threshold but it seems there would be no benefit to society for you to be sent to prison or for your children." http://www.warringtonguardian.co.uk/news/9100073.Drug_dealer_is_spared_jail/
