Malaysia: Two friends get 14 years' jail, 10 strokes of rotan for drug possession
New Straits Times Tuesday 05 Jul 2011 On the first charge, Mohd Rizal Abdul Wahab, 32, and Adi Taufiq Muhamad, 25, were each sentenced to five years' jail for possession of 1.57gm of dihydrocodeine in a car at Jalan Permatang Pauh, Butterworth, at 11pm on June 18, 2010. They were also sentenced to 14 years' jail and 10 strokes of the rotan each for possession of 445.08gm of cannabis at the same time, date and place. Mohd Rizal and Adi Taufik were also found guilty on two counts of possessing the poisonous substance, prometazine and pseudoephedrine, at the same time, date and place, for which they were sentenced to four years' jail on each count. However, judge Datuk Zamani A. Rahim ordered Mohd Rizal and Adi Taufik to serve the jail sentence concurrently from the date of their arrest. Deputy pubic prosecutor Shakila Banu I. Sheik Allaudeen prosecuted whilelawyers S.
