The Kwara State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has arrested three suspected drug traffickers with 77.7 kilogramme of cannabis sativa (Indian hemp) on Wednesday.

Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune via the telephone on Wednesday, the command’s Public Relations officer, Mrs Nneka Calista, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspects were arrested along Ganmo in Ilorin metropolis while entering the town in a Peugeot J5 bus.

Calista, who said the suspects were intercepted by the men of the command during a stop-and-search routine duty, added that 11 bags of Indian hemp were found neatly concealed in the vehicle when searched.

She said the command had impounded the vehicle and the suspects were being interrogated in order to know the source and destination of the hard substances.

The NDLEA spokesperson, who said the command was committed to ensuring that all illicit drug traffickers were sent away from Kwara State, called on members of the public to always assist the command with useful information that could help in the arrest of drug traffickers in the state.

She warned that all those engaging in illicit drug business would soon be caught by the law, while calling on parents to always keep watch on their children in order to prevent them from joining bad gangs that could introduce them to bad habit.
