Borneo: Man appeals against conviction for planting cannabis trees
Borneo Post Friday 22 Jul 2011 Court Registrar Abdul Raafidin Majidi fixed the date after the case was mentioned in his chambers yesterday as the record of appeal was not ready. The appellant, Zubairi Ismail, 30, from Kampung Gersik was also found guilty of possessing 2.17g cannabis last year for which he was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment. The cannabis trees were found inside his room while the cannabis was found in the pocket of his trousers at 3.30pm on July 21 last year. The offences come under sections 6B(1)(a) and 6(3) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952. The life imprisonment is equivalent to a 30-year jail.
