UK: Protest in Hyde Park to legalise Cannabis
Demotix Sunday 24 Jul 2011 A sign of true democracy was witnessed in Hyde park as it took no policing for a peaceful protest to legalise Cannabis go head. Only 4 police in a van and car observed the event and kept their distance and were seen to be videoing the event but maybe that could have been looking out for potential dealers. there was no dealers and no one trying to command, There was a pretty much camping like conversations going on and things were very relaxed with no paranoia, some of the protesters had a brought along a large music box on a bike, but for some reason the sound system appeared not to be working properly, this did not seem to worry any of the attendees, they just mingled in with each other and just talked. There was also a group called 'Clear' handing out leaflets with the print 'Cannabis Saves lives' The leaflet was mainly about people who need Cannabis for their pains, Most of the attendee's were very young and there was no sign of any protest, There was no placards and only one banner, The banner was was from the group calling it self 'Clear'. People who want use Cannabis should be able to apply for a licence to allow them to smoke and purchase it, if they abuse the licence and smoke in prohibited places or break any rules applied to the licence then it should be a Ban and illegal for that person to smoke or purchase it. Of course an age limit just like alcohol should be debated, The so called protest was still continuing as i drifted away, there was no banners no placards, None of the 'Whose street our street' in fact just total obedience. To my knowledge there was no arrests and the event started and faded out peacefully. London UK http://www.demotix.com/news/764517/protest-hyde-park-legalise-cannabis
