A MAN who turned two rooms of his house into a cannabis farm was jailed.

Police discovered Shaun Carroll, 42, had transformed a bedroom and the attic of his rented Orrell Park home into a drug factory when they raided his property on Valentine’s Day.

Officers uncovered 40 small plants in the Warbreck Road property. The attic had been insulated and turned into a drug drying room.

An expert ruled the harvested crop, which weighed 1kg, could have been worth up to £52,000 on the streets, while the smaller plants could have yielded cannabis weighing up to 1.6kg.

Carroll, now of Signal Works Road, Fazakerley, initially claimed the drugs were for his own use, but yesterday admitted producing cannabis and abstracting electricity.

He was jailed for a total of 21 months.
