Scotland: Cannabis goes DIY and prices double

David Leask

Evening Times

Monday 07 Nov 2011

SCOTTISH cannabis prices doubled over the past year as police took out mass cultivations and "connoisseurs" sought ever more expensive strains of the drug.

A single gramme of the drug is now selling north of the border at £10, with an eighth of an ounce – its traditional measure – going for no less than £25.

The increasingly sophisticated market is being fuelled by an astonishing growth in Glasgow "head shops" and online businesses selling everything needed to grow the potentially mind-bending drug at home.
