UK: Drug dealing mother is ordered to pay back cash she made from crime
The News, Portsmouth Saturday 03 Dec 2011 Nicola Dromnes was injured when she fell from a horse in 1996 and started smoking cannabis shortly afterwards. When police officers raided her home in Wimpole Street, Landport, Portsmouth, they found 30g of the class B drug – which was worth £280 – hidden in a safe. They also discovered 9g of amphetamines, a drug dealing list, small bags for the drugs and a set of scales. As previously reported in The News the 44-year-old was given an eight-month prison sentence – suspended for two years – when she was sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court in August. And she was put on a three-month curfew by the judge. Yesterday, Dromnes was back before the judge for a court hearing to decide how much money she made out of crime. Judge Richard Price heard Dromnes had made £3,400 from selling cannabis. But because of her limited funds she was ordered to pay £815. Dromnes had pleaded guilty to possession of a class B drug with intent to supply and a second charge of possession of a class B drug. At the time of her sentencing Tim Sparkes, defending, said she had started smoking cannabis and then began to supply it to friends. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/local/east-hampshire/drug_dealing_mother_is_ordered_to_pay_back_cash_she_made_from_crime_1_3307352
