Malaysia: Penang stall worker gets 18 years, 10 stroke for cannabis possession
The Malaysian Insider Wednesday 28 Dec 2011 High Court Judge Datuk Zamani A Rahim passed judgement and asked to the sentence to run from Noor Azman Abidin’s arrest date. The 40-year-old had on him 1,941g of cannabis in a vehicle parked behind Air Hitam’s Sunshine Shopping Complex at 3pm on January 5 2011. He was charged under Section 39A (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act which carries maximum life imprisonment and a minimum of not less than five years imprisonment with a minimum of 10 strokes of the rotan, if convicted.
