Man used drug to help in heroin battle

AN ABERDEEN dad who grew cannabis plants to stop himself from using heroin has been fined.

John Georgeson, 41, appeared from custody at Aberdeen Sheriff Court where he had previously admitted growing the cannabis plants between April and May 2010.

Georgeson cultivated the cannabis at his home address of 27 Lemon Place, Aberdeen.

Georgeson had been on probation but Sheriff Graham Buchanan revoked the order amid concerns about his health and he was fined £200 instead.

Defence agent David Sutherland told the court Aberdeen dad Georgeson had battled a historic heroin problem and grew cannabis to stop him going back to the drug.
