Poland: Lawmaker To Smoke Joint In Poland's Parliament Friday Steve Elliott Toke of the Town Friday 20 Jan 2012 ?MP Janusz Palikot has announced he plans to share a joint in the Parliament building on Friday as part of a campaign to legalize marijuana in Poland. The ultra-liberal Palikot's Movement Party will be using civil disobedience to test laws introduced in December that gave prosecutors a choice on whether to charge individuals who are found to be in possession of "soft drugs" for personal use, reports TheNews.pl. "We want to invite representatives of the Free Hemp Society, a group that we are on friendly terms with, to smoke a joint in this room, to see whether the law that already decriminalized [personal use] really did do so; or whether there is a need for the amendment that we are presenting on Friday," Palikot said. Palikot, who favors total legalization, reportedly faces an uphill battle in his bid for more lenient cannabis laws. Prior to the October 9 general election, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said he opposed the legalization of soft drugs. He ruled out any possible coalition with the recently formed Palikot's Movement, which won a surprise 10 percent share of the vote in the election. http://www.tokeofthetown.com/2012/01/mp_to_smoke_joint_in_polands_parliament_friday.php http://www.tokeofthetown.com/legislation/
