UK: Cannabis find while crews at house fire

Halifax Courier

Thursday 09 Feb 2012

HUNDREDS of cannabis plants were uncovered after firefighters went to put out a blaze at a house in Hipperholme.

Police were called to the building off Denholme Gate Road at 4.07pm on Tuesday by fire crews who had found more than 400 drug plants.

Inside, officers also found a set up for growing cannabis.

Police from the Lower Valley neighbourhood policing team are investigating the find and have been making house-to-house inquiries.

Inspector Mohammed Nawaz, who leads the team, urged anyone with information about drugs in their area to call the police.

He said: "I am pleased that once again with the support from our local residents we have been able to disrupt criminal activities.

"If you have any information about suspicious activity in your area then please get in touch. If we have the information we will take action."
