Wales: 26-year-old arrested in Swansea after cannabis plantation is uncovered Robin Turner Wales Online Thursday 16 Feb 2012 Officers acting on a tip off raided the premises on Gorseinon Road, Gorseinon, Swansea, at about 8pm on Wednesday. They discovered a plantation of over 500 plants together with sophisticated lighting equipment used in the cultivation of cannabis. The 26-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and remains in custody today (thur) at Swansea Central Police Station. Inspector Phil Thomas of Gorseinon Police said:"This plantation was discovered as a direct result of information supplied to us as part of the Heroin Ruin Lives Campaign and I am extremely grateful to those people who came forward. "This is a significant discovery, which will not be making its way on the streets of Swansea and South Wales to inflict harm and misery in our communities." "There are tell tale signs of possible cannabis plantations which could include any unusual behaviour and infrequent callers to premises, together with blackened out windows and excessive lighting. "Once again I am reiterating our appeal to the public should see they signs similar to these in houses or buildings in their neighbourhood to come forward."
