Sri Lanka: Indians nabbed with ganja

Sri Lanka Naval patrol vessels, attached to the Northern Naval Command, arrested three Indians with 10kgs of Kerala ganja in the seas north of Kankesanthurai on Wednesday.

Navy Spokesperson Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya told the Daily News that the ganja and the suspects were nabbed close to midnight.

An Indian dhow, propelled by a modified water pump, on which the high-street-value cannabis was being smuggled from India, was also taken into Naval custody. Kerala ganja has a big demand and is very expensive, Commander Warnakulasooriya said.

The three arrested men and five parcels of ganja were handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau.
