UK: Walton cannabis criminal given last chance

A MAN who breached his suspended sentence avoided jail despite being caught with a bag of cannabis.

Wayne Prendergast, 31, was seen with the drugs in Wavertree in December and arrested, breaching a suspended prison sentence he was given for cannabis production in 2010.

Cerys Williams, defending, told Liverpool crown court Prendergast had been addicted to cannabis since he was 14, and was finding it hard to quit completely, despite cutting down to a few pounds’ worth a week.

Because he was out of trouble for a year, Judge Mark Brown gave Prendergast, of Grey Road, Walton, an extra 60 hours' community service and a three-month curfew between 8pm and 7am.
