UK: Birkenhead cannabis farmer gets suspended sentence
Wirral Globe Tuesday 28 Feb 2012 Liverpool Crown Court heard that the potential yield from the 36 plants grown by Jay Robinson had a street value of up to £36,000. Iain Criddle, prosecuting, said that police discovered the illicit farm in a flat in Shrewsbury Road, Oxton, on the afternoon of July 18. A bedroom had been transformed by lining the walls with reflective material and there was ducting to the outside wall. As well as the 36 cannabis plants there was drug cultivation paraphernalia including extractor fans, a transformer and bottles of plant food. 24-year-old Robinson was not at the property at the time of the raid but was arrested on July 24. Robinson, of Beckwith Street, admitted cultivating cannabis. The court heard that Robinson, who has previous convictions for possessing cannabis, admitted growing the drug for his own use but selling the surplus to friends. The judge, Recorder Richard Pearce, said that he was prepared to suspend the prison sentence as there appeared to be a prospect of rehabilitation. He placed him under supervision for two years and imposed a drugs rehabilitation order. http://www.wirralglobe.co.uk/news/9557846.Birkenhead_cannabis_farmer_gets_suspended_sentence/
