UK: Large cannabis haul in Gloucester
Gloucester Citizen Tuesday 13 Mar 2012 Officers from Operation Avenger, which is tackling drug and violence related crime in the city, carried out a warrant at the address on Friday March 9. Eight plants at full maturity were confiscated by officers and are now subject to forensic inquiries. A man was also arrested in connection with the raid. Inspector Craig Guthrie said: "These plants were very potent and ready for harvesting. "There was also evidence of previous harvesting at the site and we believe the electricity meter was being bypassed in order to power the lighting needed for the set up. "Drugs crime is always a concern for our communities. I'm pleased the work of our team has seen the end of this cultivation and hope it sends out a strong message that we are taking action. "I also hope it encourages residents to come forward with information on drugs crime. You can call us on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111." A 38-year-old Gloucester man was arrested on suspicion of production of drugs and abstraction of electricity in connection with the warrant. He has been bailed to attend Gloucester Police Station on May 9, pending further inquiries. http://www.thisisgloucestershire.co.uk/Large-cannabis-haul-Gloucester/story-15506858-detail/story.html
