UK: East Hull man grew cannabis for 'anger-management'

Hull Daily Mail

Saturday 17 Mar 2012

EAST HULL: A man who grew cannabis plants with a potential yield of £2,700 has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.

Dino Santos, 41, pleaded guilty to growing 16 cannabis plants at his home.

He was caught with them on December 5 last year.

Santos, of Wingfield Road, pleaded guilty at Hull Crown Court to producing cannabis.

Prosecutor Mark Kendall said: "The basis of his plea was he grew 16 plants for his personal use. That was not accepted by the Crown.

"It was sent to the Crown Court for sentence as the judge believed it was an amateur set-up heading towards a professional set-up."

Harold Bloomfield, solicitor for Santos, told the court his client grew the cannabis to help with his "anger-management" and sleep.

Judge James Sampson sentenced Santos to a community order and 200 hours of unpaid work.
