Philippines: Marijuana dealer gets life Cesar Reyes journal.co..ph Thursday 22 Mar 2012 In a 10-page decision, Judge Antonio C. Reyes, of the First Judicial Region’s Regional Trial Court Branch 61 in Baguio City, also ordered Pala P. Toukyo to pay a P5-million fine after being found guilty beyond reasonable doubt of violating Section 5 (delivery of dangerous drugs) of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Toukyo, 27, single, native of Acoje Mines, Sta. Cruz, Zambales and resident of Purok 3, Kias, Baguio City, delivered a block of dried marijuana fruiting tops to a drug law enforcement officer posing as buyer during a buy-bust operation on Nov. 22, 2010 at around 4 p.m. The cannabis block, which weighed 908.90 grams, has a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P22,722.50. "The marijuana subject matter of this case is hereby ordered for destruction in accordance with law," Judge Reyes said. PDEA-CAR Director Gil Cesario P. Castro expressed gratitude to and speaks well of the prosecutor's office and lone drug court of the City of Baguio for their exemplary efficiency and devotion to duty as manifested in the speedy disposition of the case. "Prosecution resolutions and court decisions in favor of the PDEA serve as morale booster and encouragement to our agents. A convict's guilty verdict to life term is considered a 'complete' victory for drug law enforcers who put their lives on the line every time they conduct anti-drug operations," Castro said. "The conviction inspires PDEA-CAR to be more aggressive in its campaign and it stresses the collaboration of the pillars of justice towards the common end," he added. http://www.journal.com.ph/index.php/news/provincial/26479-marijuana-dealer-gets-life
