POLICE seized 40 suspected cannabis plants from a house in Widnes.

Officers discovered the illegal factory in a bedroom on Mersey Road.

The plants have been sent for forensic tests.

Nobody was arrested in connection with the find but police say enquiries are ongoing.

The warrant was executed as part of Operation Broadley – a initiative to tackle cannabis cultivation across the region.

Sergeant Danny Haddock said: “We are currently following up a number of lines of enquiry in relation to the cannabis factory in a bid to trace whoever is responsible.

"The fight against drug-related crime will continue and we want to reassure residents that we will not tolerate this sort of behaviour and will take action where necessary.

"We will continue to act swiftly and positively in relation to any information regarding drug-related crime.

"Information from the public is vital in the fight against drug crime and we urge anyone with any information in relation to suspected use and supply to get in touch."
