BEESTON pensioner has been given a suspended prison sentence for growing cannabis

A BEESTON pensioner has been given a suspended prison sentence for growing cannabis. Selvin Sigismound Bailey, 67, of Anslow Avenue, Beeston, pleased guilty to having committed the offence in Nottingham on December 29 last year.

He was given a 26-week prison sentence, suspended for two years. Bailey was also made subject to a two-year supervision order, and fined £85.

STEVEN Blakeman, 32, of Inham Road, Beeston, pleaded guilty to assaulting a taxi driver and making off without paying for a journey. The incident happened in Chilwell on March 18. Blakeman was made subject to a 12-week community order, which includes a curfew to stay at home between 9pm and 6am daily. He was also ordered to pay a total of £109.90 to the victim, and £85 prosecution costs.

KIM Foster, 35, of Ryecroft Street, Stapleford, pleaded guilty to using a colour TV at home without a valid TV licence on December 21 last year. She was fined £165, and ordered to pay £60 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

PAUL Mark Beardsley, 32, of Balmoral Road, Colwick, has pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing class-A drugs in St Ann's on March 19. Beardsley was found to have a quantity of diamorphine and crack cocaine on him. He received a nine-month conditional discharge for both charges.

ANNA Budna, 24, of Westerfield Way, Silverdale, pleaded guilty to driving while over the legal alcohol limit. She was found behind the wheel in Westerfield Way on March 18 with 53 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the limit of 35 micrograms. Budna was banned from driving for 14 months and fined £300. She was also ordered to pay £75 compensation, £85 prosecution costs and a £15 victim surcharge. Budna also admitted a second charge of driving in Westerfield Way on March 18 without valid insurance, for which she received no separate penalty.

A BRINSLEY man has been disqualified from driving for 22 months after been caught behind the wheel at more than twice the legal alcohol limit. Andrew David Chamberlain, 50, of Broad Lane, Brinsley, pleaded guilty to driving in Mansfield Road, Eastwood, on March 18 while having 72 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the limit of 35 micrograms. Chamberlain was also fined £300, and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

GARETH Stephen Dawson, 30, of Sneinton Boulevard, Sneinton, pleaded guilty to stealing alcohol from a Tesco store in Nottingham. Dawson admitted taking a bottle and two cans of alcoholic drinks worth a total of £9.19 from the store on March 17. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge, and ordered to pay £50 prosecution costs.

CORBIN Anthony Evans, 36, of Sherwin Walk, St Ann's, pleaded guilty to possessing a quantity of cannabis in Maid Marian Way, Nottingham city centre, on November 29, 2010. He was fined £75, and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £15 victim surcharge. Evans admitted a separate charge of possessing 0.68g of cocaine in Maid Marian Way on November 29, 2010. He was fined £100. He also pleaded guilty to committing the offences while subject to a conditional discharge for possessing cannabis in St Ann's on August 24, 2010, for which he was fined £100.

RICKY William Hall, 50, of Mansfield Lane, Calverton, pleaded guilty to driving while at more than twice the legal alcohol limit. He was found behind the wheel in Mansfield Lane, Calverton, on March 16 with 74 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the limit of 35 micrograms. Hall was disqualified from driving for 18 months, and fined £300. He was also ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

DEAN Steven McLean, 31, of Dorset Street, Radford, pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour in the city of Nottingham on January 1. He was fined £25 and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge. McLean also admitted failing to surrender to custody at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on March 26 while on bail. He was fined £25.

AARON Stevenson, 23, of Queens Avenue, Gedling, has been jailed for 16 weeks after pleading guilty to driving while disqualified. Stevenson committed the offence in Nottingham Road, Nuthall, on December 14 last year. He was jailed because of numerous previous convictions of increasing seriousness. He was also disqualified from driving for nine months.
