The Star, Kenya

Wednesday 11 Apr 2012

A bhang peddler was yesterday jailed for nine months by a Thika court. Ezekiel Ndung'u, who was convicted and sentenced by Principal Magistrate D.A. Orimba, admitted that on March 31 at Kimandi, Gatanga in Murang'a county, he was found in possession of 10 rolls of cannabis sativa valued at Sh200. Prosecutor chief inspector Kenneth Kiruai told the court that the area assistant chief Geoffrey Maina, acting on a tip off laid and ambush and arrested Ndung'u. He was held at Ndakaini police station before being taken to court. Ndung'u is serving the sentence after failing to raise a Sh15,000 fine.
