UK: Cannabis grower spared prison

Daily Echo

Wednesday 11 Apr 2012

A NEW Forest man, who grew cannabis at home to help alleviate pain, was spared an immediate prison sentence.

Police arrested George Rickman after they went to question him about a previous cultivation and found he had grown 59 plants in an outbuilding and had harvested skunk cannabis in bottles and jars in a bedroom cupboard.

Rickman, 46, of Setthorns Road, Sway, admitted producing and possessing cannabis which Southampton Crown Court heard had a combined value of more than £5,000. He received a 50 week suspended sentence coupled with 12 months supervision.
