UK: Coventry man spared jail over his part in cannabis factory Tina Junday Coventry Telegraph Monday 30 Apr 2012 Anthony Quinn, aged 20, was renting a property in Larchwood Road, Bedworth, which was used for growing cannabis. Police uncovered some cannabis plants in the rear bedrooms of the converted drugs factory after concerned neighbours thought there had been a burglary in October last year. Quinn, of Elm Tree Avenue, Bell Green, was handed a community order for 12 months after pleading guilty to attempted production of a class B drug when he appeared at Coventry Crown Court. He was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and placed on a tagged curfew for three months to stay at home between 7pm and 6am. The landlady of the Bedworth home, who lives in Canada, has been left with a £2,000 bill to repair damage cause to the property. Quinn was also serving a suspended sentence at the time of the offence for witness intimidation. The court was told he threatened the witness on Facebook to withdraw a police statement made against one of his friends in October 2010. Aliya Rashid, prosecuting, said: "Police received reports from concerned neighbours about what they thought was a burglary. "When officers entered the property the TV was on and Playstation game was still running. "There was a set of scales and drugs on the sofa. It appeared the rooms were hastily left by a person or people and they took the drugs with them. "There were a few cannabis plants left and still in their pots."
