UK: West Yorkshire tops cannabis table
Halifax Courier Monday 30 Apr 2012 The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) has released figures showing that West Yorkshire had the highest number of commercial cannabis farms in the country in 2010/2011. A cannabis farm is commercial when it contains more than 25 - they make up half of the total cannabis farms found. The county was second highest in terms of total cannabis farms behind South Yorkshire, but projected figures show that West Yorkshire will take over. Police found 809 farms in West Yorkshire during 2010/2011 and ACPO predict that will rise to 936 farms for 2011/2012. Whereas the Metropolitan Police found only 621 farms from 2010/2011. A total of 7,660 farms were found in the UK during 2010/2011 - an average of 638 farms a month - with 551,930 plants recovered. Cannabis is the most commonly used and most seized illegal drug in the UK. http://www.halifaxcourier.co.uk/news/local/west-yorkshire-tops-cannabis-table-1-4500130
