Drivers in danger from medicines

UP TO five million motorists could be driving unsafely this
weekend because of confusion over the dangers of non-
prescription medicines, the RAC warned yesterday.

A survey showed hayfever sufferers could be driving while
unfit because of confusion over the safety of taking
antihistamines.

The motoring organisation also called for a warning system
to ensure motorists know the risks of over-the- counter
medicines before getting behind the wheel. A spokesman said:
"It is vital drivers have a system to inform them of
potential dangers of drugs and driving."The number of people
in fatal accidents involving legal drugs has risen from
three to 18 per cent in the last 11 years.
