Wales: Cannabis grown for pain relief

South Wales Eveing Post

Tuesday 08 May 2012

A CYMMER man who grew cannabis for pain relief has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Paul Knight, 42, of Menai Avenue, was charged after police found 55 cannabis plants being cultivated in bedrooms at his home in January last year.

He told officers he was growing the drug for his own consumption "for pain relief from migraine".

Knight pleaded guilty to producing and possessing the Class B substance when he appeared at Swansea Crown Court.

Judge Peter Heywood imposed a 24-week prison sentence but suspended it for 12 months.
