Monday 14 May 2012

Willie Nelson has come out in favor of the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act 2012 (OCTA 2012). The country singer has appeared in an ad for OCTA 2012, which can be seen on YouTube, as well as on OCTA 2012's website.

Here is the full text of Willie Nelson's plea:

"Hi, I'm Willie Nelson, and I urge you to support the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act - to regulate marijuana and restore industrial hemp. This initiative will end adult marijuana prohibition, and let our criminal justice officers focus limited resources on real criminals and not on marijuana users like me. OCTA will also allow farmers to grow hemp for fuel, fiber and food. To create jobs and help our economy, please support OCTA. Thank you."

OCTA 2012 proposes that through its program, it can not only raise an estimated $140 million per year by taxing cannabis, but also save an estimated $61.5 million in law enforcement, corrections and judicial costs.
