Indonesia: Schapelle Corby's clemency plea approved

Illawarra Mercury

Monday 21 May 2012

Convicted drug smuggler Schapelle Corby could be home by the end of the year after the Indonesian Government approved her plea for clemency.

Corby, who is being held in Bali's Kerobokan Jail after she found guilty of smuggling more than 4kg of cannabis into Bali in 2005, could be released as early as August.

The Indonesian Government is believed to have cut five years from Corby's sentence.

A letter is believed to have been delivered to Corby in Kerobokan Jail, informing her of the reduction in sentence.
