UK: Norwich drug dealer jailed for ten months following £8,000 cannabis find Tom Bristow Evening News Wednesday 30 May 2012 Police stumbled across 1.4kg of the drug on December 15 last year while on patrol in Sale Road off Salhouse Road. They knocked on the home of Lewis Watts and arrested him after smelling the cannabis. Inside they found another man, Jamie Leverett, with a tub of 25 grammes of cannabis worth £144. Rachel Cushing, prosecuting, said officers also discovered three bags of the drug in the airing cupboard, two tubs on the kitchen floor and a cardboard box with more cannabis inside. Police then searched Leverett's home in Newbegin Road, off Plumstead Road, and seized another tub of cannabis worth £82. The 26-year-old, who said he knew nothing about the hoard of drugs at Watts' house, admitted possession with intent to supply. Michael Clare, mitigating, said Leverett only dealt to a close group of friends to cover the cost of his own use and he was at Watts' house to buy drugs. At Norwich Crown Court yesterday Judge Peter de Mille gave the father-of-three a 26-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months and 200 hours of unpaid work. Watts, 25, admitted to supplying the class B drug and one count of possession with intent to supply. He said he was looking after the drugs for someone else to pay off a drugs debt. Text messages found by police on mobile phones suggested he was dealing. But Ian James, mitigating for Watts, said he was a small-scale dealer and the vast majority of the drugs found were not for selling. Mr James said Watts had got out of his depth and was seduced by the thought of funding his habit by supplying drugs to friends. Judge de Mille said: "You and everybody else need to recognise that people who supply or possess with intent to supply any drugs are at risk of going to immediate imprisonment." http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/norwich_drug_dealer_jailed_for_ten_months_following_8_000_cannabis_find_1_1392666
