UK: Court confiscates drug cash

A JAILED drug dealer has had cash from his illicit trading seized.

George Dempsey is currently serving a two year jail term for supplying drugs in his home town of Blackpool.

The sentence was imposed at Preston Crown Court.

Blackpool magistrates heard how 31-year-old Dempsey was arrested outside his home on Grafton Street, Blackpool, which led to his conviction.

Cannabis and other white powder had been found on him.

He also had two phones and a wallet containing £1,063 cash.

Lancashire Police has now successfully applied for the forfeiture of the cash under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Blackpool magistrates agreed the money should go to the police force.

It will go back into the fight against drugs on the Fylde coast.
