UK: Cannabis farm destroyed in Accrington

Lancashire Telegraph

Friday 01 Jun 2012

CANNABIS with an estimated street value of £46,800 has been seized by police in Accrington.

Officers found 117 plants in the living room and upstairs bedrooms of a house on Richmond Hill Street in the town this morning.

Cultivation equipment including lighting and fans was also seized and a 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis.

Community Beat Manager for Central and Spring Hill Ward PC Shazia Bibi said: "This was a significant cannabis set up. We are aware of the harm that drugs can bring to a community and we will continue to do all we can to remove them from our streets.

"I hope this highlights our determination to act on information from members of the public and I urge anyone who is concerned about drugs being used or produced in their neighbourhood to contact us."
