DRUGS ROW ROCKS NATS

A NATIONALIST MSP has accused party bosses of blocking a
debate on cannabis.

Margo McDonald wanted to discuss calling for a Royal
Commission to investigate the use of the drug.

Lothians MSP McDonald said: "I was led to believe that I
would get part of the SNP's debating time on June 22 to
bring this up in Parliament.

"For whatever reason at the group meeting last Thursday I
was told that I would not get my debate during SNP time.

"I've lost a full parliamentary year on something that is a
vitally important issue in the drugs debate."

A senior SNP source said last night: "If we take this
subject to Parliament as an SNP-led debate we will cut off
support from other parties."
