UK: Drug dogs hit Hornsby: Two arrests, seven charges and 37 searches

Hornsby Advocate

Friday 15 Jun 2012

Police with drug sniffing dogs patrolled Hornsby yesterday and arrested two people.

At about 4pm 16 police arrived at Hornsby railway staiton with the dogs in tow to carry out "Operation Stark".

Thirty-seven people were searched.

Police made seven drug detections and issued two cannabis cautions.

They also stopped a 29-year-old man at the station, after a call at 5.07pm from Myer in Westfield to report a woman stealing clothes.

The man was carrying a bulging black Nike backpack that police say turned out to be full of clothes and cosmetics worth $3403.75.

He allegedly told police they were stolen from Strathfield and from Myer, in Hornsby, by the woman who had given him the bag.

Police later discovered that cosmetics had indeed been stolen from Woolworths, Strathfield, earlier that day.

The man was charged after an interview at the station and faced Hornsby Local Court today.

He is to be sentenced in July.
