UK: Widnes police say cannabis crackdown will not relent Oliver Clay Runcorn and Widnes Weekly Thursday 12 Jul 2012 Cops arrested two suspects on Friday after a stop check on Canterbury Road uncovered cannabis inside a van. The pair, aged 25 and 23, were charged with possession with intent to supply on Friday. They appeared at Halton Magistrates Court on Monday. They were subsequently bailed pending further enquiries and will reappear at before magistrates on July 23. And last Wednesday as the Weekly News was going to press a 33-year-old suspect, appeared at magistrates court charged with possession with intent to supply. He will appear before magistrates on August 29. Police had arrested him during a raid at a property on Peelhouse Lane at 9.15am the day before. Officers seized a 'large quantity' of cannabis resin. A woman who was also arrested was later released without charge. Cheshire police said they have executed many warrants in recent weeks and that the crackdown will continue. Inspector Ian Whiley, of Widnes Neighbourhood Policing Unit (NPU), said: "We hope that officers' efforts will send out a strong message that suspected drug use and supply, and the anti-social behaviour that is often associated with it, will not be tolerated."
