UK: Cannabis dealer in Northampton was smoking 30 spliffs a day Rob Middleton Northampton Chronicle Saturday 14 Jul 2012 Kelvin Rose, 27, was stopped in Billing Brook Road, Northampton by officers investigating a series of robberies in the area because he matched the circulated description. Northampton Crown Court heard his bag was searched and after finding over four ounces of cannabis, they searched his and then his girlfriend’s home on November 26. Hannah Mettam, prosecuting, said Rose also had deal bags, scales, about £900 of cannabis, which he said was for his personal use as well as £1,055 cash. Rose, of Marshleys Gardens, Northampton pleaded guilty to possessing class B drugs with intent to supply and was given a suspended prison sentence by Judge Sylvia De Bertodano. Richard Holloway, mitigating said Rose has been using cannabis since he was a teenager and smoked between 20 and 30 spliffs a day, adding: "He's a heavy user doing it to supply his habit." He was sentenced to 12 months, suspended for 18 months with an 18-month supervision order. Judge De Bertodano said: "You were stopped and searched by the police and they found a really very large quantity of cannabis and cash, some of it profit from selling cannabis. "I of course accept you were selling it to people you knew but that's very limited mitigation. You know the effects cannabis has on people because of the effects it has had on your life. "Because of your lack of previous convictions, which is surprising to get to your age without getting into trouble, I'm going to give you this one chance." http://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/news/crime/cannabis-dealer-in-northampton-was-smoking-30-spliffs-a-day-1-4058508
