UK: Six arrests in Exmouth, Exeter and East Devon following drug raids

SIX PEOPLE have been arrested following the execution of drug warrants at properties in Exmouth, Exeter and East Devon under Operation 'Cranefly', which has targeted the supply of class A controlled drugs into Exeter from Liverpool...

The joint operation saw a total of 100 officers from Devon and Cornwall Police supported by officers from Zephyr and the South West Serious and Organised Crime Agency target 10 properties in Exmouth, Exeter, Teignmouth and Ottery St Mary.

Two people, a 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman were arrested at properties in Exmouth and Exeter on suspicion of possession with intent to supply controlled drugs.

A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis following the discovery of a large amount of cannabis at a property in Ottery St Mary, and a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of both class A and B drugs at a house in the Beacon Heath area of Exeter.

Two further men, aged 46 years and 41 years, were arrested at properties in Exeter on suspicion of money laundering.

All persons remain in custody at Exeter awaiting interview.

Yesterday's operation is a continuance of the operation which commenced in June and saw 13 persons arrested and six persons are jointly charged with conspiracy to supply Class A controlled drugs.

To date the proceeds of this criminal activity has been identified to have exceeded a total of £¼ m and a number of people are on bail for money laundering.

Following yesterday's operation,.Superintendent Jim Gale, the local Police Commander commented, "This sends a strong message to the communities of Devon that drug dealing will not be tolerated. Working together with our partners in Zephyr and SOCA we will continue to target suspected drug supply whether it originates from Merseyside or elsewhere in the country and work hard to bring offenders before the courts in order to achieve justice."
